The carefully acquired collection will be the core of the Museum, around which the galleries, boat shop, programming and other activities will develop.The Canadian 1000 Islands Boat Museum will preserve and promote the significant, impressive and noteworthy boatbuilding activity that contributed to the development of Gananoque and the 1000 Islands region, and in turn the country as a whole. Working closely with the local schools, unique educational programs will empower students with practical and valuable maritime skills.The Canadian 1000 Islands Boat Museum will narrate the heritage of the St. Lawrence River, the 1000 Islands, and the magic spirit of the region. Through constantly changing unique galleries, engaging exhibitry and on-water activities, locals and visitors alike will gain an understanding of the fascinating history of the area, and its important role in the development of the country.
