Looking for an amazing view that encompasses the vast beauty of The 1000 Islands? Visit the 1000 Islands Tower located on Hill Island. Our journey started as we took the 1000 Islands parkway over to the tower; our short drive was full of beautiful views of the St. Lawrence River and the surrounding nature. Once we got there, we were greeted by Heidi, the owner of the tower. When we were ready to make our way up, we got on the elevator that was once one of the fastest in the world climbing 40 stories in only 40 seconds. In the blink of an eye the elevator doors opened, and we were met with a stunning view. The 1000 Islands Tower is one of the only places where you can get a bird’s eye view of the islands and lavish greenery that surrounds them. We saw hundreds of islands spread out to the horizon, and two eagles fly right from our eye line then swoop down to the trees below. To our right was the 1000 Islands Bridge and The US customs was on our left. Staff members told us about the Indigenous story of how the 1000 Islands were formed, that the creator was angry with humans, so they grabbed the most lush and diverse land on earth, crushed it in their fist and scattered it over the river. We learned all about the history of the islands, the tower, and the 1000 Islands Bridge, including the fact that under the bridge is a current nearly as strong as Niagara Falls! After taking in the outstanding view, we headed down the elevator. On the ground floor there is a beautiful gift shop full of everything from 1000 islands keychains to Indigenous made Moccasins. With our new purchase of some amazing 1000 Islands themed décor including coasters and a small statue we headed home after a day well spend at the 1000 Islands Tower.
